The idea of how grammar is used and the concept of what it is are easy to understand, but when it comes to applying it is where it becomes tricky. I have a hard time comprehending things due to a learning disability, so reading and writing is not easy for me. It takes a lot of time, patience, and practice for me to understand grammar. My experience with grammar has been tough; because of the struggle with my disability I did not fit anywhere. Before I came to college, I started off in a small class, but I was too advanced. I then moved into a normal size class with two teachers and I had a hard time keeping up. The second teacher was there to help me and a few other students. When I got to college, I made the choice not to get accommodations. I felt that it would have not benefited me, but from time to time I wonder if I made the right choice. I’m aware of the basic grammar and I can break down sentences, but I have a hard time forming them. After reading the article by Kyle Wiens, I actually felt quite troubled, unproportionally so for its harmless subject matter. Based on the article, Wiens almost seems to have a haughty air about him, in my opinion. I cannot exactly pinpoint at which particluar section of the article leads me to have this impression, but I believe just the general idea of the article that is not hiring qualified people based on their grammar skills), and the fact that Wiens is a self-proclaimed "grammar stickler" is what I find irksome. While I know that good grammar is extremely important, I also know that grammar, in any language, is arbitrary. So when I read about people placing quite a lot of value into grammar, I frankly find it annoying and find said people to be overly condescending.…

In “So I'm Like, Who Needs This Grammar Stuff?” by Kendall Hamilton, the author seems to be a little open and okay with using wrong words and making grammatical errors. He seems like he does not really care because he mentions how in the future it won’t matter. He mentions how an english professor said “...most of the grammar rules are already dead or dying.” He also mentions that “students language skills in general seem to be on the downswing.”…

I found it difficult to post constructive discussion board feedback to my classmates about newly acquired skills. The class often had different interpretations and approaches to the class assignments. I did my best to share my knowledge and suggest improvements to other classmates while keeping their perspective in mind. As a young child at school, we had the Accelerated Reading Program. It was a program that encouraged children to read various books, and then after to take a quiz based on the books. This program really helped me, because the program pushed me to read more. Since I am bilingual, learning two languages as a child was a bit challenging for me, and learning how to read was even harder. I would sometimes mix up letters, vowels, and sometimes talk in Russian when I was supposed to talk in English.…
