How Good Are Your Leadership Skills?
Introduction
Some people are born natural leaders while others are just not. Leadership traits can be learned. If manager wants to succeed as a good effective leader, he/she must acquire those effective leadership skills. Effective leadership skills inspire and motivate employees. Moreover, effective leaders can persuade and convince others to do their best.
The results of my leadership quiz gave me a score of 61(Please see my result: "How Good Are Your Leadership Skills?" in pdf file). Although scores between 53 to 90 indicate a good leader, however, the devil is in the details. i.e., details in the breakdown of the different components of the leadership skills in the quiz.

My results of most the component of the quiz was satisfactory and ranged between 6-8 out of ten. Even those I did it good, I still need some improvement. However, there was one component that I did it poorly which was:" Being good role model".
How to be a good role model
My score on this component was 5 out of 10. I do not agree with the result, but I will accept it anyway. There are some skills that I am missing with respect to being good role model. Being a role model to someone is leading by example. It means also offering support and encouragement to employees (Memeo, October 14, 2016). Moreover, effective leader gives employees time, gets to know them so that to earn their trust.
In addition, an effective role model leader is one who regularly mentors his employees (Lewis, 2001). Being an effective role model and mentoring go hand in hand. It is important to mentor employees and show good practices and the tricks of the trade. Equally important is to be a good ethical and morale leader and show novice employees how to avoid ethical lapses in business.

“Key Qualities of Leadership” Individuals involved within leadership roles can “make or break” a company. Without key qualities of leadership, an individual cannot fully provide their customers or its employees with the experiences they deserve. Without proper skills and reinforcement, leaders cannot foster a positive workforce or support their employees. Without certain key factors a leader or manager becomes just another employee, and not the leader they are required to be. Having leaders with the skills such as honesty, accountability, the ability to inspire and to delegate, and basic communication skills are all necessary parts to becoming proven and respectable leaders within a business.…

Just as there is no cookie cutter terminology or phraseology to describe leadership, neither is there a true scientific medium or metric to gauge leadership effectiveness. Generally, the selection of appropriate criteria to measure leadership effectiveness is dependent upon the objectives and values of the person executing the evaluation (Yukl, 2010, p. 11). Unfortunately, objectives and values often differ between the leader and the evaluator, thus, differing values and objectives often produce unreliable and differing results when measuring leadership effectiveness (Yukl, 2010). With no concrete theories or methodologies to measure leadership effectiveness, perhaps the best way to gauge effectiveness is to focus on the indicators of effective…

Introduction As I reflect on this course and the results of the Questionnaires, Reflection, and Action Worksheets I have learned many aspects of leadership. I have analyzed the definition of leadership and now have a clearer understanding of it. According to, Introduction to Leadership; concepts and practice, by Peter Northouse (2015), leadership can be composed of many variables such as relationship, trait, ability, skill, behavior, and influence process. He also elaborates on how the “leadership of an individual can be used to influence a group to accomplish a common goal”. In addition, he discusses how leadership is not the same as management (Northouse, 2015, pp. 3-7).…
