American problem
When we think of America, the images of Times Square, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, clean city, beautiful campus of Harvard or other fancy university comes into our mind. In some extreme cases we think of Macy’s or Victoria’s Secret’s showrooms, but we never think of wars, terrorism, military attacks, drug abuse, over throwing governments at first. We have some positive pictures of The United States in our mind, because we mostly see positive things about America in news and media. That optimistic picture is making us blind to the reality. The article wrote that in name of global market, countries are exchanging drugs, diseases and other illegal goods. In today’s world, dealing with these bad or illegal exchanges of globalization is a big challenge. The biggest superpower, America, is silent about this negative side because it gets the most profit by globalization. This article “How Globalization Went Bad” tried to find out the main reason behind the ‘globalization’s evils’. The writers came to a conclusion that the side effects of globalization are not a fault of globalization itself; instead it is the side effect of America being in the dominant position. This same article explains furthermore that globalization is not a new idea. The idea of exchanging had been always there, but something changed in the last 15 year. The change is that globalization is now dominated by one superpower (Weber, Barma, et.al). This domination is making other countries fear, that if they do not agree or follow orders of dominant superpower, then they will lose the business or they will lose the health care provided by different American organizations.
