At first, Parliament passed the Stamp Act of 1765; however, this act was later repealed due to the heavy protest and hostile acts of the colonial settlers. The repeal of the Stamp Act was a slap in the face toward Parliament. England was viewed as a major military power, and now was being told what to do by a small group of defiant settlers.
