Family has, subjectively, many different definitions. Some might say only those related by blood and marriage are family, others might say family friends should be considered family, and even further some say that anyone deemed worthy can be called family. Whatever definition of family is used it is important to remember that a perfect family is next to impossible to possess. Family is family regardless of conflicts, separations, or anything else. It 's inevitable that a family is going to fight. Living closely with someone at all times breeds conflicts. People need social interaction, but they also need space. Regardless of fights and silent treatments and everything else family is still family. In the tough times, sometimes family is all you can turn too. They are there to help you get back on your feet in the worst times. They make sacrifices to help you, because they know that you would do the same for them. Being in a chaotic or even calm family is a hard thing to do, and they can either be put up with, or left. Most people choose to put up with them, but some make the decision to leave for their own good. Sometimes one has to think of themselves over others. As is pretty obvious, my family is fairly chaotic. There 's a lot of people who are considered family that we rarely see, and plenty of family that is blood related that we haven 't talked to in years. My dad has cut off his whole side of the family, similarly to the way my brother has with our family. So the whole concept of family do’s and don’t’s doesn 't come quite as easily to me as it does to others. I 've seen quite a bit of family drama in my life and my favorite quote from all of it comes from my oldest brother. He said to my mom “We don’t need to worry about them. We have each other and that’s all we need.” That quote has probably been the closest to solid ground on the subject of family that I 've ever found. Hearing it from my brother helped this a lot, knowing that he feels just as confused on the subject as I
