Take a look around the room and at all the items that surround you. What do you see? Probably some chairs, or maybe even some books or probably even a television. Engineers have shaped our world as we know it. An engineer helped make all of these everyday items. Engineers solve practical problems by applying mathematical and scientific knowledge. The word engineer comes from a Latin word meaning ‘cleverness’. The actual definition of an engineer is “A term applied to the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences, gained by study, experience, and practice, is applied to the efficient use of the materials and forces of nature”(Funk and Wagnalls). The golf ball was engineered from a nonworking wood ball to the working …show more content…
Aerospace engineers build and Aeronautical and aerospace engineers design aircraft for civilian use, they also construct planes to help the military. Aerospace engineers help in the development and design supersonic jets. The engineers have to make sure the jet can withstand the high speeds it can reach. Engineers have to test materials that are used in the plane and make sure that it can withstand regular use. One of my sister’s friends had to test possible leaks inside a plane if a hose exploded and how long it would take for it to burn a whole and make it into the cabin of the jet. He had to spray hot liquid over a piece of metal and see how long it would take. Using a program, it showed how the temperature of the metal was rising. Over time, the heat that started in one spot quickly expanded throughout the whole sheet. I found this very interesting and decided to look into it. I’ve always been fascinated by how jets fly so fast but never really looked …show more content…
The most important accomplishment of engineers is the computer. Ever since I could remember I was always interested in computers. The yearning to understand how computers and software function has been one of the most ardent desires of mine since I was in the 6th grade. Everyone in my family knows I’m good with electronics. At church when someone needs help with their computers, installing programs or just setting up a printer, they come to me for help. Determine just how much information you can store on any hard drive. Figure out what instructions a computer needs in order to turn on and move information around. Design cables which link computers together to form networks. Develop peripheral computing devices such as printers, modems, scanners and digital

This is one reason why i find engineering so captivating. Each and every item ever made has some sort of engineering done to it, and in order for that item to function, it must be perfect. Engineering to some is just a mess of complicated formulas and numbers in order to create something that can be one without all the hassle.. But engineering is quite the opposite in my eyes. Engineering is a creation of the future.…

Computer programmers are the engineers that develop these software programs. They are the core of what makes technology possible. Creation begins with software engineers submitting design specification to the programmers. After analyzing the information, they determine how to translate this request, using computer languages like C++, to achieve the desired end product. In addition, through thorough testing, debugging, and at times, rewriting of code, programmers accomplish…

The Air and Missile Defense of Our Nation’s Capital Throughout our nation’s history, and even before, America’s militia has answered the call to guard and defend America’s citizens and way of life. Following the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, President George W. Bush authorized the activation of the Reserves of each military branch as well as the Army and Air National Guard. Initially, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld designated more than 35,000 reserve component men and women the task of protecting strategically significant and vulnerable high profile sites. The safeguards provided by this call-up delivered very little real defensive worth, however it did placate the public’s demand that their government provide protection in the face of unprecedented chaos.…

Science is about discovering new laws and facts, but engineering is about making new things. Computer Science professionals are primarily focussed on developing improvised solutions for users, hence these professionals can be better referred to as Toolsmiths rather than Computer scientists. A Toolsmith is successful only when his tool users are benefitted and satisfied with the tool. This very expectation holds correct in our case too. We succeed only when the solutions developed by us are useful, easy and makes the users faster and better.…

As technology advances through the 21st century, the world of aerospace is becoming increasingly important. There are many reasons why this region has such significance to our society, with one of them being that aerospace power is essential in protecting our national security. To start, I would like to clear up two definitions: National Security and Aerospace Power. National Security is agreed upon, to some extent, as “ the protection of a nation from attack or other danger by holding adequate armed forces and guarding state secrets.”…
