Terrified is when a person has an extreme fear of an object. The Elevator is about a boy named Martin. He is terrified of elevators, his fear of elevators increases rapidly when a grossly fat lady steps on in.William Sleator creates suspense when Martin’s fear of elevators escalates because of his encounter with a mysterious obese woman, who imitates Martin every time he rides the elevator.
