In the play A Raisin in the Sun, the character Walter makes a choice to give the rest of the life insurance money to Willy Harris. In doing so, he causes the mood to change which creates conflict in the plot. Walter shows himself to be rash. Walter was given what was left of the money and was told to put some of it away for Beneatha’s schooling and put the rest into a bank account for himself. “I want you to take this money and take three thousand dollars and put it in a savings account for Beneatha's medical schooling. The rest you put in a checking account - with your name on it” (79-80).
