We have the power to create, alter, and destroy just about anything in our world, and we have. We have contributed to the most radical changes that affect the Earth today. One serious change that we must focus on, is the effect that we have on ourselves. Human history is full of war, violence, murder, and countless other actions that have negatively impacted us from the past to the present. We have killed our leaders, destroyed countries, and created weapons of mass destruction with intent to damaging and hurting our own species for personal gain. "Why?" You might ask. (403-425) Statistically, religious activity is proven to have a direct impact with mental and physical health. It enforces moral values in people and results in more humanitarian acts. Spiritual freedom is not promoted here at University of Wisconsin – Stout, it is nonetheless embraced. Here, we are unified as a community where you can practice what you choose to positively impact yourself and our environment. Remember, not all spirituality is religious, a survey done at here at Stout concluded that only about twenty-five percent of students belonged to a faith group on campus, while over forty percent of students surveyed stated that they considered themselves spiritual. Spirituality, in a general sense, is a sense and connection to something that is bigger than yourself or searches for the meaning to life. There are plenty of ways to develop your spirituality without being a member of any religion.
