Not only does tobacco use have an impact on individuals who smoke, but it also harms bystanders. People walking on campus that may not smoke are still affected by secondhand smoke. One of the worst things for a student that has exams, quizzes, and homework is to have something negatively affect their mental health. The exposure to this smoke can have impacts of nonsmokers’ mental health. A survey held in Canada showed a correlation of secondhand smoke and poor mental health (Asbridge 1679).
