How Does The Witches Affect Macbeth's Character

In Macbeth, the witches seem to come at a pivotal time in the play having a strong impact on Macbeth’s character. The witches appear at the beginning of the play, which results in the downfall of Macbeth’s character due to his immature and armature decisions to rise to power. Macbeth, a noble military general, allows the witches words to transform his life. In Act one, scene three, the witches speak to Macbeth saying, “All hail, Macbeth! hail to thee, thane of Glamis! All hail, Macbeth, hail to thee, thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth, thou shalt be king hereafter!” These fews lines are where the rise and fall of Macbeth happen. He allows the witches words to get inside of his head and spark his crazy ambitions in hopes of accomplishing what he wants most, to be king. The witches predictions that they tell Macbeth and Banquo forces Macbeth’s character to go from this noble general who just beat the Irish in battle and served great for the Scots, to this dangerous man who would do anything necessary to attain the thrown as king. …show more content…
He becomes extremely ambitious and will kill others that got in his way of gaining more power. Macbeth is then highly influenced by his wife, Lady Macbeth, who is a woman just like the three witches, to kill Duncan who is the current king. His ambition is at an all time high and he’s now a dangerous man and no longer “noble.” The thought of him being king consumes his mind. After killing Duncan, he tries to frame the murder on one of Duncans’ son’s, Malcolm. Banquio, who was Macbeth’s partner, was a very smart man. He was beginning to put things together and knew that Macbeth killed Duncan. Macbeth sees Banquio as a threat and has him killed as well. Macbeth is so thrilled at the thought of power and being king from what the witches told him he was destined for, that he has his own partner
