And sorry for taking so long to follow up.

I really enjoy writing about the philosophical thought that is at the root of this lifestyle we call minimalism. I especially like to write about the ideas of the ancient greek and roman thinkers like Epicurus, Epictetus, and Marcus Aurelius. At the same time, I 've been trying to cover a variety of topics over this first year-and-a-half of blogging, so I haven 't been writing about that particular subject lately. It 's also been a while since I 've read any philosophical works and I have forgotten a good portion of what I used to know about these ancient philosophers (I never was too knowledgeable on this topic to start with). So, that also partly explains why I haven 't been incorporating any ancient philosophy in my posts lately. But I will definitely write a post about the ancient philosophies behind minimalism in the near future because I have some quotes Epictetus ' Manual that I would like to share with my readers.
What is your favorite inspirational film? About a Boy would definitely be my favorite inspirational film. It 's not an obvious choice as far as inspirational films go, but the story of how Will Freeman is somewhat changed by Marcus is quite uplifting in my opinion. Will lives off his father 's royalties and he doesn 't really have any direction in life. He also spends most of his time at HMV. However, after spending some time with Marcus, a troubled boy, he learns the value of true companionship. Marcus ' story is

The goal of any good screenwriter, or any writer really, is to grab the reader's attention and keep it until the end. Your goal for your blog should be exactly the same. From the minute the site visitor hits your landing page, his attention should be captured enough that he doesn't leave for a good long while. Like a good film that leaves you wanting to know more about the characters, view it again, or see the sequel, a good blog will draw in the visitor and make him bookmark your site and sign up for your mailing list.…

Roberto Clemente was one of the best baseball players of all time by winning many awards and by being in the hall of fame. You would expect that an award named after Roberto Clemente would go to the most skilled player. However, the Roberto Clemente award is about a lot more than sports. It is giving to the player who best follows Clemente's example of sportsmanship and community service. He devoted time helping the capital of Nicaragua, Managua after it was struck by an earthquake.…

However, that award would not have been possible without my team and co-captain. Together we had to work to fundraise over $1,000 each year we participated. That took coordination and communication. Especially since all of money was raised through events we held and not through donations. Me, my co-captain, and my teammates all had to work together to make that happen.…

In today's society, every kid that plays a sport gets a trophy for just showing up and that is not right. There is more meaning behind a trophy for a kid than what most people think. Getting a first place trophy is a better feeling than getting a participation trophy. Kids should be able to go home and celebrate their first place trophies and realize they accomplished something rather than getting a participation trophy for just being out there.…

The first time I viewed the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, it stayed in my thoughts for at least a week. As it may come off quite comical and seemingly too quirky, the story incases a message grasping the theme of undying love. The main character, Scott, first comes to terms with his superficial relationship with his adorable, yet naive girlfriend, Knives Chao. His passion for music and his alternative rock band then leads him to the other protagonist, Ramona, the heartthrob. From the moment he notices her, he believes with all his heart that she is his soulmate.…

“Hew out of the mountain of despair to a stone of hope, and you can make your life a splendid one.” This is my grandfather’s favorite quote. It was not until have seen the Shawshank Repetition directed by Frank Darabont that I realized how the hope can motivate me when I suffered.…

When striving for success, there are no limits to one's full potential. Reaching your goals is something that seems impossible. However, anything is possible when you set your mind to it. Only a few have managed to put their foot through the doorway and get a step closer to reaching some of their goals. Senior Elia Monarrez was recently awarded the Illinois State Tuition Waiver (ISTW) which is a scholarship the military provides that promises to pay 100% tuition in participating universities and colleges that offer an ROTC curriculum.…

In many discussions with my administrator, I have come to realize that teacher attendance is becoming a problem at our school. In the past the teachers have had to find their own substitute, but a new program now does it for them. It is much easier to just submit an absence as opposed to having to call a list of potential substitutes until one agrees to fill in. In an attempt to encourage teachers to attend school whenever possible and recognize the teachers who have a good attendance record, I created the Postman award.…

Trophies are a big deal. They are a solid representation that a person completed this or excelled in that. For most people, the physical reminder is the key piece to the memory. People can't remember the event without reminiscing over the trophy. The trophy is a way to show off an accomplishment without looking like a person is over exaggerating the moment.…

My favorite film is Remember the Titans. The film is about a football team and their struggles with integrating an African American high school and a Caucasian high school. Taking place in Virginia in 1971, the film shows the racial tension of the community using techniques to make it cinematic. One of the ways that allows the viewer to understand the tension in the movie is with camera angles.…
