The story of Narnia is one of the most popular fantasy novels in the world having sold over 100 million copies in 47 different languages. When you read or watch Narnia for the first time you may not understand the true meaning of the events taking place, for there is more depth and hidden meaning to what seems like an innocent children’s book.
There are many references to Christian beliefs and the film itself is packed with references to Christianity. When C.S. Lewis wrote Narnia his true aim was not to educate children about Christianity but to introduce children to similar ideas to make it easier for them to accept Christianity as it was the main religion in England. There was no specific reason why Narnia was written but there are hints as to why Lewis decided to write it. At the time that he wrote the books Lewis was going through a lot of stress (his wife passed away) and as a result his imagination took him back to his childhood. As a child he pictured a faun standing in the snow holding parcels which was a strong source of inspiration for him. This also inspires others to let your dreams and imagination take you to wonderful and unique places and write about them.
