The Internet Has Negatively Affected Society

When the Internet was created, coming close to half a century ago, no one imagined it would have this large of an impact on everyday life. It is almost expected of society to stay up to date with what is going on in the Internet constantly. Whether it be by checking your email, updating your status, or checking the weather, the Internet has become so embedded into everyday life that a person could easily fall behind if they don’t have the proper tools to keep up with society. These tools include computers, tablets, smartphones, smart televisions, smart watches, and it is rare for someone to not come in contact with at least one of these devices throughout their day. Over all, the Internet has positively affected society because it gives society a way to connect to a variety of thing with the click of a mouse that would have been impossible half a century ago. Whoever believes this is a bad think is focusing specifically on people who spend hours on that social media website or watching that cat video. When a person spends and excess amount of time doing things like this is when it becomes a problem and should be frowned upon. Moderation is key when dealing with the internet. If a homework assignment is due, then it is expected for the student to spend less time on the social media website verses when no paper is due. On a different note, the internet only holds power over a person if the person lets the internet hold that power. The internet is and inanimate object and cannot hold a gun to a person’s head, forcing them to watch that cat video. It is all mental. The internet can consume a person if and only if the person lets it. There is nothing to fear when dealing with the internet. A thing a person should consider is how much power they are giving the internet and should rethink their life if they believe the internet holds power over
