The concept of pi was invented by Archimedes, who was Greek. Ever used the toilet? The toilet was invented by the Romans. I wonder what else we can find.

For instance the Greeks and Romans chewed the leaves of the willow tree for pain and other medical purposes this part of the willow tree later became the main component in aspirin. They also pioneered battlefield medicine and surgery as a whole. They would use a scalpel and sterilized it by putting them in boiling water. A Greek physician by the name of Galen was an instrumental key to the development of medical philosophy and anatomy. Galen was the physician that discovered that the arteries carry blood not air like was previously believed. He also demonstrated through stimulation of a specific nerve that the brain controls your voice. He also described the function of the spinal cord, kidneys, and bladder; however, there turned out to be many small discrepancies because all of his experiments were on apes and other animals. He used non-humans because it was still considered against social norms to dissect dead humans. He also furthered the misconception that human health was dependant on the balance of four humors within the human body including, blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm.

Concrete was a very important asset in the construction of Roman cities allowing for complex rotundas, and arches. The Romans ingredients for their concrete were a pasty, hydrate lime, pozzolan ash usually found near volcanoes, and a few pieces of rock. Which when you think about the ingredients of Roman concrete is not very complex compared to modern concrete. And yet somehow the Roman’s concrete has lasted for 2,000+ years in harsh conditions and yet their buildings still have some integrity. Aqueducts are a way to move water around within a city, including pipes, and channels. Aqueduct comes from the Latin words “aqua” meaning water and “ducere” which means to lead. These were used to supply water to toilets, baths, and latrines. These aqueducts were fed by springs and publicly owned wells. Unknown to the Romans they used lead to make their pipes so quite possibly they were unintentionally poisoning
