How Does The Great Gatsby Relate To The Movie

Improved Essays
The Great Gatsby was such a good story and the lessons learned for me were unbelievable, the movie was so good also. There were so many people that were fake people in this story, and you know what makes me mad? Like why? They had a good life but they have to have more then they need. The characters I am going to relate to this is Gatsby, Tom and Daisy.
Gatsby was a big fake I mean he didn’t have the right name that he told to others but such a good guy at the same time, maybe that’s what people got tripped up by that he was such a nice guy but actually he had a mad and crazy side and when him and Daisy left each other when he went off to war and he came back and she was married to Tom and Gatsby would always look across from his house and see the green light from the house of where they lives and Gatsby would just stare at that green light forever. Gatsby was a good lover to Daisy but not honest as he should have been to her, she deserved that much. When they were at Gatsby’s party and those men were

He was so worried about everyone else except himself and he was the worst of them all. Who would cheat on Daisy with Myrtel? Daisy is such a great person with a kind heart and she would never heart a fly, but she has her bad days and good because everyone does. Tom was a dirty rotten guy. He had a lot of problems with other girls and going around and having his friends lie to everyone for him including Nick. Tom is such an awful person because he made Daisy’s cousin Nick lie to daisy over going to the Town of ashes and hooking up with Myrtel. Tom drugged Nick so he would still not say anything to his cousin. Tom made one of Daisy’s other friend Jordan lie to her about other girl he has snuck away with or slept with behind Daisy’s back, even though towards the end Daisy got with Gatsby, Tom was much worse because the whole time Tom Buchanan and Daisy were married Tom cheated on her the whole time and Nick only knew half of

He is the cheating and unfaithful husband of Daisy Buchanan. Tom was a man that deceived people by letting others take the blame for his faults and mistakes. For example, Myrtle’s sister, Catherine, believes that Daisy is the reason for Tom and Myrtle not being able to be together officially and publically. She believes that it is Daisy’s fault because Daisy is Catholic and her religion doesn’t believe in divorce (Fitzgerald 33). However, this assumption is mentally shot down by Nick, Daisy’s cousin.…

Tom Buchanan seems like a bad person for cheating on his wife and disrespecting George. However, when Tom bought Myrtle a dog on page 28 he appears to turn a new leaf because this act implies he cares about Myrtle. Later on in the chapter Tom denotation of when it says “Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand” it affects my reaction to this character because that act of abuse makes me think Tom is a truly heartless person. Also, it was implied that Tom was becoming a more likable person. Additionally, there is irony because Tom cheats on Daisy which is disrespectful however, Tom does not want Myrtle to say Daisy because it is disrespectful.…

As Daisy is professing her love for Gatsby, Tom begins to show another side of himself. Instead of being the tough man he claims to be, he breaks down when he realizes that his virility is more dependent on the opinions of others, rather than his own confidence. Thus, Tom strives to seem as though he is a man of power and strength when in reality he actually deeply cares about the people in his…

The Great Gatsby is a great story. It has very different characters that are all bold in their own unique ways. It also has a setting that is upscale and dirt poor in the same setting. This story is portrayed by a well written book and a very well put together movie. And, although it's the same story in both there are some differences that occur between the characters and the setting.…

Throughout the story he shows, time again that he is the type of person who likes to control other people and what they do. Sometimes he acts like a bully and other times he is just darn right cruel. Whenever he sees George Wilson, his mistress' husband they talk about selling him Tom’s car. Tom never actually intends to do this he is simply toying with George and becomes angry when Wilson tries to talk to him about it. There are times when Tom loses his temper because people don't obey him, like when Myrtle Wilson started shouting “Daisy!, Daisy!, Daisy! . . .…

Gatsby pretended to be someone that he was not when he first met Daisy. He seduced the girl whose happiness solely depends on money and property. It was successful that night, which directs us towards the roles of women during this time, because Fitzgerald uses women to build the American Dream by focusing on their beauty and status. He thoroughly examines the objectification of women. “Her face was sad and lovely with bright things in it, bright eyes and a bright passionate mouth…”…

Gatsby Synthesis Essay The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, represents the theme that the American dream is no longer achievable. Happiness eludes those who only want more because as new things arise the temptation is always there, to be one step ahead of everyone else and have it all. Jay Gatsby represents the constant striving to capture something that a person believes will finally make them happy. He wants Daisy, his love from long ago that was supposed to wait for him.…

The Great Gatsby is one of those films that you must really pay attention to understand the moral and concept of the story and movie plot line. This is by far one of my favorite movies that I have watched. I am pretty sure everyone wishes they could live like Jay Gatsby. The 1974 version of The Great Gatsby starring Robert Redford as Jay Gatsby and Mia Farrow as Daisy Buchanan and other stars from that era of movies really made this movie what it is and will always be in many movie lovers eyes. I also enjoyed watching the most recent Great Gatsby starring the very talented Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby and Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan with a ton of amazing actors such as Tobey Maguire who many knew as “Peter Parker’ or “Spiderman” and…

To begin this compare and contrast paper, we will be taking three subjects and finding the similarities and differences; the Great Gatsby 1974 movie, the 2013 movie, and the book. First, we will be comparing the 1974 movie and the book. In the book Gatsby had sailed with the rich sailor Dan, Cody and when Dan Cody died, Gatsby had hoped to receive a large sum of money, but when the will came out he received quite a lot less than he previously thought he would be given. As a result, he was furious, but later the money he obtained helped him gain more riches in life. Gatsby acquired the phrase, “old sport” from Dan and he learned how to be the rich and classy man that he is and yet in the 1974 movie Dan Cody isn’t even mentioned.…

Tom and Gatsby are both dishonest and deeply flawed men who commit consistent shows of indiscretions. For example, Tom condemns Daisy’s affair, but does not have the decency to be discreet about his own. Gatsby’s shady business dealings with Wolfsheim and illicit ways of acquiring wealth can, without a doubt, compare to Tom’s unscrupulous character. Both Tom and Gatsby lie and cheat, but Tom does it for the sole purpose of self-indulgence, while Gatsby does what he does in pursuance of his dream. Tom and Gatsby both have controlling personalities, and will do what they can to get what they want, regardless of the consequences.…

Nick comments on himself as he says that he is very tolerant and has a tendency to reserve all judgments, and this is completely true. Tom had total trust in Nick when he introduces him to his mistress, Myrtle as he never suspected Nick to reveal his affair to anyone. Along with his arrogance, I feel that Tom is very unfaithful to his wife, Daisy as he does not try to hide this when he accepts a call from his mistress during lunch. Tom’s behavior has left me speechless as he cheats on his life to fulfill his pleasures. To add to his unfaithfulness, I believe that he has a very sexist nature and rudeness towards women as he merely uses them as objects.…
