How Does The Great Flood Relate To The Bible

The legend I can relate to the most is "The Great Flood". I can relate to it the most because I'm religious and it comes from the Bible, and I also live in a corrupt time period. It is the story of a flood sent by God to wipe all the evil off the earth. He made the chose because he saw how evil and wicked mankind was becoming. He started to regret ever creating them. So, He decided to create a massive flood that would wipe everything off the face of the earth, just so there would be no more corrupt humans left.

However, there was still a good family left. He told Noah, the father of the family, to take his wife, his sons, and his son's wives and to build a massive boat. It had to be big enough so 2 of every animal could fit on board, and enough space for food to last for years. Noah complied, even though he was ridiculed and shunned by everyone outside his immediate family. As he worked, a drought swept through and made people laugh at him even more for building a boat in the middle of a drought. When he was done, he gathered his wife, his sons, and his son's wives onto the boat along with 2 of every animal. They had stored enough food onboard to last a decade, and when everything was onboard, God shut the door to the boat.

When God saw they were safe, He sent down a torrential downpour that flooded the earth. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights without any sign of stopping. When the rain finally did stop, Noah went out to the top and sent a dove out to look for land. It came back, weary and tired of flying so long without rest. Days later, he tried again. This time, however, the bird came back with an olive tree branch. He waited a few more days, then sent another bird out. It did not return, and later, they felt the boat hit solid

The creation myth of the Epic of Gilgamesh starts out with the introduction of the character Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh is the powerful king of Uruk and two-thirds god, and one-third man who is seen as one of the greatest things in Uruk. The Epic of Gilgamesh is a creation myth because Utnapishtim tells Gilgamesh that the gods are going to flood the earth and wipe out mankind as punishment , and he is told to build a massive boat for his family and “take aboard the boat a seed of every living creature” (143). Similarly, just as it states in our bible, Noah is told to build an Arc for the flood and bring two of every animal…

While he was seen as insane by many and even falsely named Noah, he proved an entire town wrong even with his little to no formal standard education. An entire town vs one man with speculations about a levee seems like a good situation to choose flight over fight. Even with odds stacked against him, his child being caught up in many brawls because of it, and a fresh new biblical title him showed an entire civilization that he didn’t need a college degree to not drown. He was most likely giddy with joy as his ark floating over and past the many critics and those who frowned upon his creation’s…

Utnapishtim then set all the animals free and made a sacrifice to the gods. Noah and Utanapishtim had many similarities as both set aside worldly possessions and followed the commands they were given to build a ship made sturdy and up to the standards of both Gods and later sail away with only relatives and animals. Both took members of their families and waited until the water receded and sent out birds to find out if the water was gone; Noah got an olive tree branch back and Utanapishtim received nothing. Later both rested on a mountain and were able to be saved from both…
