In “A Good Man Is Hard to Find,” the Misfit and the grandmother both receive mercy in spite of their flaws, faults, and weaknesses. The grandmother lies to her grandchildren, dwells persistently on the deficiency of the present, and treats her son unfairly. She believes she has the right to judge others and tell them how to live their lives. However, with her encounter of the Misfit, her pratty characteristics change. She tells him to pray, even though she does not have the ability to form a single prayer. The Misfit himself is a remorseless murderer, but as noted earlier, their meeting gives them both the potential to be saved by grace.
