The Five People You Meet in Heaven is a novel that contains several stories which looks into the life and afterlife of Eddie – a cantankerous, war veteran from World War II. Mitch Albom uses characterisation to provide the audience with a perspective of the relationships that Eddie has with the Blue Man, the Captain and Ruby to show Eddie what it means to be human. As each event progresses through the text, readers are drawn deeper into the storylines where connectedness, sacrifice and forgiveness are apparent.
