in a vacuum there is no air resistance at all, because there is no air. If I were in an evacuated chamber and dropped a feather and a bowling ball at the same instant, both would hit the level ground at the exact same time. That should give you a clue.

However this is completely different than what we experience in everyday life, and that is due to air resistance.

Air resistance is simply air particles getting in the way of whatever is trying to move. There is Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide, and a few other gases in the air. that's why objects that are designed to move fast trough fluids are made very "smooth" because it will bend the air around the object.
