Critics often taking an opposing view hold the idea that technology is damaging relationships and society itself, which is just not entirely true. I can understand why people would believe this since in some situations the excessive use of technology can separates their intimacy but regardless with or without technology, it’s the person’s choice to spend more time then needed with an electronic device rather than their spouse. Technology strengthens relationships and bring attraction by building communication in a newer way. According to Jenna Wortham, “74% of couples surveyed reported that the internet had had a positive impact on their relationships and also that 41% of 18-to-29-years old in serious relationships said they felt closer to their partner because of online or text-message conversations.” (396) She also stated that her desire for actual one-on-one meetings is because of the persuasiveness of technology. Technology like any invention can have its negatives but also its positives too.
