How Does Technology Affect Students

Growing up as a child, my parents were always very strict about the amount of technology my sister and I used in a course of a day. Playing on the computer and watching television was very limited. My sister and I would always complained about these obscure house rules, especially when we visited our friends and family’s homes where they had at least three televisions. We were often encouraged to read books and play outside. There were many times where we pleaded to our parents the importance of more technology; our case always came down to efficiency. Unfortunately their case opposing case was that restriction was to keep my sister and I from becoming lazy couch potatoes. Education technology really allows a student to explore the different areas of science and technology. Electronics is included in everyday learning throughout the world. Even in my high school, school administration gave every student a take-home I-pad for educational use. Fortunately, Technology helps prepare students to compete with other students globally. It has also afforded many students to submit online typed assignments. With online work submission on the rise, online school has consistently been really successful for many adults. Researchers have found that spending a limited amount of time watching television programs can enhance families and friendships (Bicen). They also mention that television allows little time for interpersonal communication. Technology could be potentially harmful to family time. The amount of time that Americans spend on social media, watching television, playing computer games and surfacing the Internet exceeds actual human interaction. But according to the national science foundation, information technology perfects classroom learning (NSF); however, Carnegie Mellon says that “In Portugal, technology either has no effect or a negative affect on learning ”, this could mean that technology is useless in some parts of the
