In the book Samurai's tale Taro begins the journey to become a samurai. After Lord Akiyama killed his parents Akiyama took care of him and sent him to the cookhouse. One of the major things that helps this story move forward is that people in his life cause him to change and when they die or go away he learns to let them go.
