“Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light” -Helen Keller. “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck reveals the hardships of being a migrant worker in the 1930s. The characters George and Lennie are moving along from job to job and because of Lennie’s mental disorder it is difficult to keep one. In “Of Mice and Men,” Steinbeck uses the characters George, Lennie, Candy, and his dog to develop the big ideas of friendship and guilt. Good friends will do anything for one another. Firstly, George and Lennie resemble a strong friendship. For example, when George and Lennie were on their way to their new job and they stop by the fire, Lennie says, “‘I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you’” (Steinbeck
