A group of students at The University of Alabama stood beside a table outside of the Ferguson Student Center many times throughout this semester in hopes to grab the attention of those passing by.
Several posters and pamphlets lined the table. One sign, however, caught more glances than the rest. The bold red words painted on the cardboard matched the severity behind them, “Slavery still exists.”
The International Justice Mission is a global organization that protects the poor from violence and fights for justice for the afflicted. The organization, though worldwide, occupies over 100 college campuses in the United States.
According to IJM.org, modern day slavery claims over 45 million victims globally. Slavery is outlawed
