While Shukumar was away, Shoba rushes to the hospital to give birth to her baby; however, the baby doesn't survive. This incident caused Shoba to change and her relationship with her husband to become cold and distant. Shoba starts to busy herself with her work while Shukumar stayed mostly at home. Their relationship became very fragile after the death of their baby. Shoba finally decided to move away and not live with his husband anymore.

When Bobby is attacked by the monkeys, Mr. Kapasi goes to save him. When Bobby was finnally safe, Mrs. Das approached bobby and put a bandage on his knees. Then she decided to fix bobby's hair. She grabbed a hairbrush from her purse and as she was pulling it out, the piece of paper with Mr. Kapasi's name
