Shakespeare wanted to give a message to the readers about the decisions people make when they are in love and the world is against them. Shakespeare wrote the play Romeo and Juliet to show just that. During Act 2 scene 2, Romeo sees Juliet on her balcony and decides to answer when Juliet basically proposed without knowing he was there. They continued to talk until morning and decided they wanted to get married despite the family's feud. Considering what the play suggests about “star-crossed lovers,” the intention of this scene was to propose the idea that when in love, people will make arrangements without thinking them through completely, take risks despite major consequences, and do anything for each other.
