I recently read a novella, called A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Basically what this book is about is a cold-hearted man who despises Christmas. His name was Ebeneezer Scrooge. Scrooge's partner in business, Marley, died on Christmas Eve, seven years pass, and the very night Marley visits him in ghost form, is Christmas Eve. Marley says that he will be visited by three ghosts, that will help him change his ways before it is too late, the ghost of Christmas Past, the ghost of Christmas Present, and the ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Scrooge first accompanies the ghost of Christmas Past, to see the shadows of his young self.

The spirit shows him Bob Cratchit's once more, showing that Tiny Tim, Bob's most crippled son, has died. The spirit also showed him his own grave. Scrooge was scared, so he figured he had to change his ways.
The next morning Scrooge wakes up, and it is Christmas morning. He walks around, greeting people, saying "Merry Christmas!" And even, "Good morning!" He finally realized, that life isn't all about how rich you are or what you have. It is whether or not youare happy and have friends. He realized he should change.
The theme of this story is money can't buy happiness. When Scrooge wasn't rich and greedy, he had friends, he had a love life, he had fun. When he got interested in money, he threw all he had away.
Tons of people still make movies, plays, and shows based on this novella. The reason people still love to read, make plays, and movies of A Christmas Carol, is maybe because it is amazingly written, and it has awesome description and characters.
