Water boils when the molecules are able to overcome the vapor pressure of the surrounding air to move from the liquid phase to the gas phase. With that being said when you add salt that increase the amount of heat needed for water to make the transition( chemistryabouteducation). The more salt you add to water, the more you raise the boiling point. For control variable I boiled water with no salt 5 times and the average of that was 96.8°C and every variable after that went up higher than the last one. Salt raises the temperature of water because it breaks charged particles and as long as it’s in the water any solute raises the temperature of water(Illinois.edu).When salt is added to water it raises the temperature by …show more content…
Doing that for me was challenging because I used sink water and I could not keep the temperature the same because I had to turn it on and off. Another thing that could be done is use a more accurate measuring tool, maybe something connected to the computer because sometimes someone could read the numbers wrong and that would mess up the who experiment. Another thing that could be done is use larger amounts of salt because more salt has more affect and that would be more precise to make an almost accurate result. Lastly, another thing that could be done to improve this experiment is do more trials because the more trials you have the more accurate your answer
