Do you ever wonder why people are the are they way they are or do the things they do? The author Saki uses many different things to develop the characters Vera and Mr.Nuttel in the story “ The Open Window.” Saki uses different skills to come up with characters which are, direct characterization, indirect characterization, and motivation to make the characters come to life.
Initially, Saki uses direct characterization to make Vera seem real. Direct characterization states what a characterization states what a character is like [ their personality]. A example of this is, in the story, “The Open Window” it states, “.... said a very self-possessed young lady of fifteen.” This is saying that she is all about herself. Also with with the quote above you can tell that Vera is talkative, curious, teenager who likes to get into people’s business.
