Abstract
Major points discussed in this essay on how religion began is how the introduction of human thoughts began a series religious beliefs that are still used today. In the beginning humans were very curious about the origins of earth and the ending. This led to the development of religious beliefs. Religion was very important in the development of society, language, and organization in society. The spread of religion happened very rapidly after many settlers, and slaves were passed along from village to village. This was the time when the religious founders started their religions. According to Ellwood (2014), “During this time the invention of writing was created so what happened was records and not myths” (p.22). This created documentation of history and developed more truth about the records. During these time many settlers, slaves, and soldiers moved around seeing all these different beliefs and spreading the new religions. Many of these people promoted what they believed to their rulers and if they also believed then the kings would promote the faith. The five major religions all have scripture on how each religion was and how it was represented. They all show how if you do something against a religion then you will have consequences and if you do something good you will have salvation. This helped the spread of religion because they wanted an afterlife without suffering. According to Robinson, B. (2002, March 23), “There are two main groups of theories based on the origin of religion. The first one is faith-based theories and the second is secular-based theories.” Faith based theories are described as how many people belonged to one of the 270 religious groups out there. These religious groups would then tell us how humans, other species of life, and the rest of the universe became what it is today. The second is secular based theories where a group of scientist figured out how Homo sapiens evolved into proto-humans. The evolution to proto-human allowed us a more advanced knowledge base, ability to reason, to form advanced societies, and create religions. These are both important ways because we do not know which one is true because these are theories but they are the main
