Even today the effects of reconstruction have an impact on our society. The legacies of the post civil war radical reconstruction include the growth of industrialism in the south, the development of terrorist groups such as the kkk, and the 13th amendment.
First, reconstruction brought industrialism to the south. Northerners started moving south for new opportunities, and brought their ways of life. They started building factories and companies in the south. Since the slaves were freed plantation owners had nobody to work the farms and went out of business. The new job openings were helpful to a lot of southerners. This is a lasting legacy because now some of the biggest cities in our country are in the south.
