How Does Ralph Change In Lord Of The Flies

At the end of the book, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the boy’s personalities have changed drastically since they arrived on the island. They will do anything they can to survive. Ralph is focused on staying alive and getting off the island, but Jack is focused on hunting. Jack is taking over as chief and turning all the boys into savages except Ralph, who they are trying to get rid of. Just as Jack is about to catch Ralph the boys end up on a beach where there is a Naval Officer standing. The officer starts asking questions and when the boys get all worked up about trying to answer them the officer gives them some time to pull themselves together. By looking at the last chapter of the book one can see that many conflicts remain unsolved, this is important because the reader is left predicting what could happen to the boys after the Naval Officer find them on the island. …show more content…
Ralph informs Jack that he can be the chief of the hunters and Jack gladly accepts the offer. Throughout the novel Jack slowly tries to get the other boys on his side. He tells the group several things that make the boys perceive Ralph as an unqualified leader. Eventually, the boys are forced to be under Jack’s rule and Ralph is left alone with Piggy. To make sure that Ralph does not try to regain his spot back as chief, Jack orders the boys to go out and look for Ralph so they can get rid of him. Since the book ends while they are still on the island there is conflict between Ralph, Jack and the rest of the boys that is not
