Okonkwo’s father got all the blame for his bad start. He was reason why Okonkwo is so tough on other people and himself. He fits perfectly into the strong bad relationship. Okonkwo hates his father, he tries his hardest to be the exact opposite of him. Unoka was a laid-back and an easy-going man, he fell into debt really quickly, and kept on having to borrow money to live. When he died he didn’t get to pay off all he owed. Okonkwo paid all the families back what his father had taken and used from them. Unoka was proud of his son the last days that he knew him. His first one is his favorite, this is because she gave him his first son Nwoye. That is what she is mostly known for. They have a mostly good relationship, except that sometimes Nwoye isn’t as manly as Okonkwo wants him to be. His relationship with his second wife is in the middle, she had ten kids but ended up only keeping one. He loves her because she has a little girl and she’s tough and a strong woman. He wishes she were a boy. The third wife is young and less trained than the others. She still doesn’t follow all the rules and gets beaten into her place often. She was beaten in the book for “Not making it home in time to feed him”
