An experiment involving both children and adults was performed to see if playing a musical instrument would make them smarter. In this experiment they got people that have never played an instrument before and gave them a standardized test and recorded the score. Then they put half of the people in music lessons and the other half did not get any music lessons. After about 6 months they retested the people and saw that the people that received the music lessons achieved a 7 point increase of their original scores. The people that did not get the music lesson received the same score as the first time they took the test.“It can even increase IQ by seven points in both children and adults, according to researchers.” ( Alleyene). To clarify, anyone, no matter how old, can achieve a higher IQ by simply playing an instrument. In doing so it activates the brain's corpus callosum, which is a bridge connecting the two hemisphere of the brain. In other words it makes messages get to the other side of the brain faster, making the learning process faster and more efficient. It also makes information easier to …show more content…
Being a musician helps with focusing and staying concentrated. One of the most famous example that we can look back on is Albert Einstein. Albert Einstein played the piano and the violin. He is also one of the most famous scientist that we know today. In one of Albert Einstein’s interviews for the Physics World paper, his wife explained that if Einstein was struggling with his work and was trying to figure something out he would simple go over to the piano and start playing. After a little bit he would just stop and immediately go back to work. “Music helps him when he is thinking about his theories. He goes to his study, comes back, strikes a few chords on the piano, jots something down, returns to his study.”(Einstein and His Love of Music )He also used his musical talents to help his work as a physicist. “Albert Einstein stated in no uncertain terms that the Theory of Relativity was a "musical thought" that came to him intuitively.”( Roemmele). Einstein was one of the most remarkable scientist of his day. He is the best example to show that playing a musical instrument does help with work and helps people to concentrate and focus with a lot more
