Often times, a common way broaden that sphere is mass media: social media, broadcast media, and print. These media sources have opened a wide range of opportunities for people to broaden their impact and their power with the general public. People are now able to go on their nightly news and tell their story, which ends up captivating the audience watching,“...and the anchor asked if my professor had anything to the millions of people he had touched.” (39 Albom) Morrie, throughout the memoir Tuesdays with Morrie, was put onto a broadcasting platform which ended up helping millions of people cope with medical issues going on in their life. Morrie used his power to broadcast how to live every day the best and positivity to millions of people throughout the world. The idea of a person being powerful enough to affect millions of people with his words and advice can also parallel with someone trying to make a change through his thoughts and actions. In Anthem, Equality takes his intelligence and ability and makes something so advance his society hasn 't seen it in generations; after he makes it he is ready to share it with all. “We must not keep our secrets to ourselves, not buried in the in the ground. We must bring it out to the sight of all men.” (60 Rand). Obtaining enough power to make a positive change isn’t just making the change, it is knowing what the problem is and extending your understanding of the topic enough to be able to understand and make the proper change. That is “the key to good decision making is not knowledge. It is understanding,” (103 Gladwell). People are often aware of the corruption that is present in the situation but they never exert their power over it and fix the situation. Ignorance to problems is prevalent, but sometimes people penalized for recognizing there is an issue. Throughout Lord of the Flies, all the boys are aware of the unlawful acts that are happening but only two are brave enough to make a change for those problems, “...[Simon] saw the picture of a human at once heroic, but now sick.” (140 Golding). Blink also shows parallels with Lord of the Flies in that they both believe that you need to understand and sympathize with the problem in order to fix it. A positive change will not happen with a small amount of power held by an uninformed person, it needs to be done by someone who is going to be able to put the time and effort into changing the problem. Both of these literary pieces exemplify both what you need to do when there is a problem and the acknowledgment of a problem.
