In some situations, I do agree that movies take away from imagination and spontaneity when people are constantly spending their time watching movies that are not educational and that do not lead up to anything surprising. I think watching documentaries actually broadens your ability to take in information and interpret information in ways that books and other educational pieces may not be able to. In many cases movies purposely make you use your imagination, for example during a movie, asking yourself “I wonder what’s going to happen next?” while your mind is producing all of the possibilities. I’ve watched many movies that actually end on a note, leaving you to imagine what could happen in the second movie. For example, The Hunger Games which was originally a written book by Suzanne Collins, is a movie series that left me to wonder and imagine what was going to in the second film and so on throughout the four films. Films are made interesting this way. Films that are more intense, like drama and horror are more likely to leave people wondering and let people imagine what’s going to happen next or what if that happened in real
