To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, the book takes place in a Southern town in the twentieth century in the fictional town of Maycomb. In to Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses symbolism in order to convey the idea that doing harm to people who are helpless and innocent is a horrible thing and can lead to unwanted actions.
