Mentoring matters in nursing because good and effective mentoring creates competent and confident future nurses. Good mentoring helps in grooming young nurses to face any obstacles within the health care system. New graduate nurses enter the health care system without any real experience and most lack confidence. In addition, once a nurse reports to her shift, an endless amount of responsibilities are being thrust on her. Such duties, at the beginning, might seem difficult especially to a beginner with hardly any experience. A new graduate might find themselves having a hard time juggling between their own stress and anxiety while trying to accomplish their assigned duties on time.
