In “The Use of Force” of William Carlos Williams, narrator forces Mathilda to open her mouth by physical power, but I agree with his actions for many reasons. Firstly, there’s no other way to make Mathilda open the mouth. According to the story, the doctor has tried his best with the appropriated ways to make the girl open her mouth, but she hasn’t opened her mouth. Thus, I think it’s suitable for the doctor for using his physical strength to make the child open the mouth. Another reason is that the girl deserves the way to open her mouth because she is disobedient to her parents and the doctor.…

Newton’s and Kuhse’s views of the nurse’s role have many differences. In Lisa Newton’s article, she discusses how the physician is more knowledgeable more than a nurse, that a nurse is not autonomous and is a subservient to the physician. Newton’s second argument argues that a nurse may never question a doctor, even in an emergency situation, because it could compromise the patient’s safety. And lastly, a nurse’s role is to be a mother surrogate to their patient and aid in maintaining their autonomy.…

In the end, the doctor tells the couple that their daughter was right and that a simple aspirin would calm the boy down. Furthermore, when the physician asks Babette why she ignored her own daughter’s advice, she answered with, “She’s a child, not a doctor- that’s why” (DeLillo, 90). Although, Denise’s advice was rational and Wilder’s problem was simply something minor, Jack and Babette still need to hear the advice from someone with more experience in medicine and, most importantly, someone with more authority before they are able to trust their daughter’s…
