At the start of the novel Miss Watson and the widow is hisk parent appointed by the judge. The reader also see why he is like this when they meet his father who is an alcoholic and a conspiracy theorist and has very little moral fibers in his body. Time and time again huck is faced with decisions that will make himself more moral. In the beginning the reader see how how broken his compass is when he offers miss watson and the widow as collateral damage if he breaks his vows to a “gang” that is made up of children. Later in the story the reader sees how spending time with jim and with his thoughts make him think about what is moral and when the next decision of morality comes us with the thieves he decides to send someone back to help them. Then again when he helps jim escape he know that what he is doing is socially the wrong thing to do because of the time period that is the norm.but he does it anyway because he thinks its right. If the reader just takes these three instances and puts them in chronological order you will see a trend appear that shows that at the beginning huck was morally lost then when he runs from his father and fakes his death, this is where we start to see that something in huck is changing. This is his metaphorical death. His metaphorical rebirth is when he helps the thieves by trying to not let them die by sending someone back for them. The reader see him change and realise that if he put himself in other people's shoes so to speak he would not like the way he is treating
