How Does Macbeth Change Throughout The Play

The supernatural is defined as an attribution to some force beyond scientific understanding, or the laws of nature. Knowing this, would you let the supernatural force control your decision making? Throughout the play, Macbeth's life, decision making, and morals become heavily altered by the supernatural. The three weird sisters, or the witches, appear multiple times throughout the play, always giving Macbeth insight on what might happen next in his life. Macbeth appears to be very easily influenced by these predictions because it causes him to turn to deranged actions. The supernatural plays a major role in this play by causing Macbeth to be fearless, when maybe, he shouldn't be. Macbeth was undoubtedly influenced by the witches multiple times during the play. This seems to be clear when he exclaims, “Two truths are told, As happy prologues to the swelling act Of the imperial theme”(1.3.130-132). Since two of the three predictions have come true, it only makes sense to im that the third will come as well. It is such an internal want for Macbeth to have the throne as king that it starts to cause him to go crazy. He gets to a point where he knows the spot for king is his and he isn't going to stop until he gets what he wants. This leads him to a path he had never thought of taking before, murder. Macbeth struggles with himself as he says, “Then, as his host, Who should against his murderer shut the door, Not bear the knife myself...I have no spur To prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition, which o’erleaps itself And falls on th’ other”(1.7.27-29). His ambition, at this point, is his leading factor. He refuses to let the future happen on his own, because his want for it now is so abundant. Therefore, his thoughts are conflicted with the prize.
