How Does Luttrell Survive

"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change." It takes a lot of bravery for someone to survive an extreme environment. Luttrell and Katniss were both put in life-threatening situations and were determined to stay strong, yet the challenges they faced differed greatly. Katniss and Luttrell faced similar situations on their quest for survival. They both were in pain, but continued to persevere. For example in, "The Hunger Games" it says, "am acidic substance that scalds my throat and makes its way into my nose as well… Somehow, I lift my tired legs and I begin to move on!" Katniss was in pain and tired, but she managed to move on. An astringent substance was going through her body, but she was determined to continue walking. Another example is in, "The Lone Survivor; A True Story of Survival" it says, "Luttrell suffered a broken back from …show more content…
Luttrell had received help along the way while Katniss was left alone to survive . In the text, "The Lone Survivor; A True Story of Survival" it says, "Luttrell also received some unexpected, and vital, help from local villagers… The village he said, would help anyone who asked for food, drink or safety". Luttrell was fortunate to receive help from the villagers. They provided Luttrell with food and safety from the enemy. On the other hand, Katniss an inexperienced girl was on her own with no supplies or help. In the excerpt, "The Hunger Games" it says, "I allow myself a spoonful of water". Katniss was low on water supply and didn’t have anyone to guide her to survival. She has to know her limits with her food and water supply. Katniss was aware no one was going to help along the way with more, unlike Luttrell who was given replenishments. Luttrell and Katniss were in similar situations, but yet faced many differences as
