The plot in the book is single-handedly carried by one of the main concepts, family. This is a very intense theme because of Luke’s rapid illness at the beginning of the novel. “‘Mum, I said Luke’s isn’t going to die.’ She turned sharply. ‘Don’t talk about things you don’t understand,’ she said in a loud whisper.”…

Most actions a person does are motivated by some type of emotion. That is why people laugh and smile when they are happy, cry when they are sad, and yell or stay silent when they are mad. In the book, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the reader reads about a group of boys stranded on an island without any civilization. As time progresses, the mindset of the boys begins to evolve into the mindset of animals. In the novel, “Lord of the Flies”, by William Golding, he shows as time increases the boys physical appearance changes in both subtle and dramatic ways and given these alterations of their appearance it changes the boy’s sense of community and their ideas of appropriate behavior. In chapter one of “Lord of The Flies”, it showed how the choir boys are walking in unison and in eccentric clothing and in uniform from neck to toe. William Golding wanted the boys to portray this kind of look to describe the boys as being overdressed because as the time increases on the island their appearance became quite a slipshod. They are clearly from a fancy private school and used to behaving properly Golding added imagery to this book because he wanted his readers to imagine how life was like for the boys living in a nice environment wearing nice clothes well behaved and proper hygiene, until they were stranded on the island.…

Human beings have a tendency to make choices which often lead to their own demise, or as Oscar Wilde wrote in The Duchess of Padua, “We are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell.” This statement is exemplified in William Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies, during which, young boys are stranded on an abandoned island and forced to survive. Three of the boys, Jack, Ralph, and Simon, make decisions that lead them to their own collapses. Jack’s jealousy and ego cause him to lose his civility and he becomes a savage killer. Ralph’s indecisiveness and cowardice turn him into prey, hunted by the other boys.…

During my research of Anakin Skywalker, I had run into some challenges getting to know him on a deeper level. I was also able to connect the storyline to new historicism, and view on how Anakin relates to coming of age. The main thing that I found to be challenging about my characters was finding the films. Growing up, my family and I never sparked an interest in the Star Wars movies, so we never watched them.…

The Broader Context: The Gospel of Luke In order to best understand how to properly interpret Luke 16:1-13, it is best to first read the passage in light of its surrounding context—the entire book of Luke. In his introduction, Luke clearly states his purpose in writing this gospel: “so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught,” (Luke 1:4). This is Luke 's purpose statement, but what is the truth the Luke is trying to demonstrate? The main theme Luke wants to convey, this “exact truth,” in his gospel is that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messianic Servant to all humankind.…
