What Happens When I Got Away Analysis

Have you ever met the perfect person, and things were going great! Then all of a sudden, things shift to a slow pace and eventually fade away. One might call it unlucky or bad timing, but I believe the factor that kills a relationship is the lack of communication or expressing what you are truly feeling. I often believed that the universe was working against me when the magic seemed to evaporate from the relationship. Sometimes insecurities and doubts are the reasons one may not express their feelings openly with the one that has captured their heart, because the assumptions based on the insecurities has convinced you that you are not the one. How do we avoid this moving forward? Is he/she the one that got away? Are you looking at the life …show more content…
No one got away, get over it and stop living in the past. If that person was truly worth it, love knows know humility and they would have moved heaven and earth to keep you or get you back. I can only recall one instance of this happening to me, however, I can admit that I was too stubborn and mean, to break my back tracking rule to see what could actually happen if I said yes. In my opinion he did not get away, we are still friends, just not as close as we were once upon a time. I actually apologized for my actions, years later of course,( I 'm a Taurus so don 't judge me) and he forgave me. It was a big relief and a testament of how we both have grown over the years. To watch his journey highs and lows, where he never surrender to fears, rejection or failure, inspired me to be a little more fearless and take risk. He does 't know it, (of course I am too stubborn to tell him) but he is and always will be truly special to me and I am proud of the person that he has …show more content…
Please get over it and move on. The fact of the matter is, you are witnessing the happiness of two people and you are not apart of the equation. Stop comparing yourself to the new person, because you are obviously lacking something that they have, especially since you are the past and they are the present and future in some cases. The next time you have something wonderful appreciate in that very moment, because the next moment you could be watching someone else appreciate what you took for granted. Sometimes in this situation the person is more interested in the happiness and joy that radiates from the relationship in comparison to their current relationships

In the book "If I Ever Get Out of Here" the author Eric Gansworth writes about the dangers of assumptions. He writes about this theme throughout the book by introducing situations in which an assumption of a character or a group, often times based on race, turns out to be incorrect and leads to issues between the two people or groups. Lewis and his family both make assumptions about George's family because he is from off the reservation and there are assumptions made about Indians and Lewis by teachers, classmates, store workers, and more. While Lewis is being bullied by Evan, a kid at his school, many people didn't believe that the situation was as bad as Lewis claimed. When discussing the problem in the lunchroom some of the kids agreed that Lewis is just "making the easy Indian claim" (p. 207).…

While my parents traveled to and from work everyday, there were a couple of songs they may have heard quite often due to their popularity. If they happened to be listening to the radio when I was born, they more than likely heard the number one song “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith (“Birthday No #1.”), which won the MTV Movie Award for Best Song from a Movie (“Aerosmith Awards.”). Diane Warren, the songwriter, became nominated for an Oscar for the Best Music from an Original Song, won the ASCAP Award for Most Performed Songs from Motion Pictures, and was even nominated for the Grammy Best Song written Specifically for Motion Picture or for Television (“Diane Warren Awards.”). Other songs they may have heard could have been “Candle in the Wind” by Elton John or even “Truly Madly Deeply” by Savage Garden ("90s Hits – Billboard #1s.”). Other than listening to songs, my parents often found themselves sitting on a comfortable couch watching a hit TV show.…

Due to the inborn urge for man to discover and explore new things, the process of having discovered something can provoke emotional & intellectual responses. The innate transformative process in discovery has the ability to greatly influence and change an individual’s opinion of their world, but it is also able to alter widely held perspectives in a community. Ivan O’Mahoney’s documentary ‘Go Back To Where You Came From’ (Go Back) perfectly highlights this, as it follows a physical yet emotional exploration where individuals are pushed to better discover themselves and the people around them. Similarly, in Stefan’s song ‘Crossfire’, his desire to know and understand the sufferings of refugees catalyzes his emotional expedition to explore two…

Love Paradox and Shadow Have you ever fallen head over heels in love with someone? I have and can remember the overwhelming emotion and power it had on both of us, but while in love sometimes we see the other person in an image that is beautiful to us, but not true of who they really are. Robert Johnson, author of the book Owning Your Own Shadow states, “to fall in love is to project the most noble and infinitely valuable parts of one’s being onto another human being (81). This can have both a positive and negative effect on a relationship. This scenario played out in my own marriage.…
