How Does Jonas Change In The Giver's Relationship

I think things will change between Asher and Jonas. They are going to feel uncomfortable around each other. Jonas will feel uncomfortable because now he's the receiver of memories. He is the most honorable person now while Asher isn’t. Everyone will know Jonas as The Receiver. At the end of the ceremony, the discomfort in their relationship begins with Asher being a little hesitant. The author wrote, "Sure." Asher smiled, his usual smile, friendly and familiar. But Jonas felt a moment of hesitation from his friend, an uncertainty.” (pg 62) Therefore, I can predict Jonas and Asher friendship won’t last long once they start work. On the packet, the Chief Elder gave him it said he has no more volunteer hours, no free time. He eats, sleeps, trans, repeats. Asher is a different assignment. The author wrote, “He remembered what the Chief Elder had said: that his training would be alone and apart.” (pg 63) Since he has no time, he won’t see Asher as much. Jonas and Asher’s friendship won’t last long because they are working in a different building and Asher and Jonas will take a different route since Jonas has become The Receiver. Their instance is like if a friend moves to another state or school, you probably won’t see her as much because she will make new friends. According to the article, the author wrote, “Now, for the first time in his twelve years of life, Jonas felt separate, different. He remembered what the Chief Elder had said: that his training would be alone and apart. But his training had not yet begun and already, upon leaving the Auditorium, he felt the apartness.” In a couple of paragraphs later, the author wrote, "Sure."
