Every book that has made impact always has at least one character that outstands the rest. Either because that character has gratifying and talented deeds or because that character has fury and dislikes many things. The Crucible involves many characters which makes the story more interesting and hooks the reader in, but there is one character that makes many changes through the novel. Throughout the play John Proctor is the heart of the plot. Being involved in the plot so much leads to many changes of personality. Proctor goes from an irresponsible adulterer to someone who truly wants redemption and makes things right by his wife whom he has wronged .
