The advancement of technology has increased dramatically in the last 10 years. With the constant release of new technologies, it can be difficult to keep up. Learning Information Technology and being computer literate can help you keep up to the constantly changing technological atmosphere. Having a broad knowledge of Information technology can also help with your everyday lives. I.e. ordering pizza over the internet, buying furniture online, reading movie reviews, streaming Harry Potter, etc… The use of a computer is quickly becoming a necessity in everyday life. Being connected to social media can extend your reach when trying to make important decisions or finding information. Social media is especially used by people that wish to pursue an entrepreneurship. They use Information Technology and social media to create web pages that contain information about their company or business. Knowing how and where to find this information can help when deciding whether to pick one company over another. Knowing IT can help with college assignments and homework too. Programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Spreadsheet, and Powerpoint were made especially for tasks that include the recording, input, and analyzation of data or information. Using these programs can make college and school work much easier. Knowledge of IT is also needed when applying for financial aid. Numerous financial aid programs exist that give money to students that need it, however these organizations are sometimes solely internet based.
