Ultimately, manipulation is a way to influence an individual in a skillful manner. Iago’s skills at manipulation results in the death of innocent Desdemona. Iago throughout the play drops hints to point out to Othello that Desdemona is in deed been unfaithful to him. The handkerchief is the key hint Iago uses to manipulate Othello. Iago's entire plan revolves around how he gets Emilia to pick up the handkerchief which Desdemona drops, which then Iago plants in cassio’s house. Subsequently Othello sees Cassio with the handkerchief and Iago has achieved his goal of creating an illusion that Cassio is indeed having an affair with Desdemona. Eventually this resulted into othello killing Desdemona with him being deceived by Iago’s manipulative
