This is honestly a good story. It shows you how greed and irony comes into play when a little bit of gold is thrown in your face. He gives a good story on how people double cross each other and how ironic it is because everybody ends up dying. I think Chaucer was trying to go off the actual intent of life because mostly anyone would get really greedy if it came down to splitting money and that the two pilgrims killed the one man while the one man poisoned
